En octubre de 1991, Robert Smith, líder de la banda británica The Cure, escribió una canción a partir de sus impresiones de la lectura de El Extranjero y en homenaje a Albert Camus. La canción se titula Killin an arab.

También existe una película: En 1967 Luchino Visconti, cineasta italiano, adaptó la novela de Camus con actores italianos y franceses de renombre: Marcelo Mastroianni (meaurseault), Anna Karina (Marie), Bruno Cremer y Bernanrd Blier.
